All good things must come to an end—even really, really good things. Thus, the merry band of musicians known as “A South Dakota Acoustic Christmas” will make the 2008 holiday tour of the state’s concert halls their last. "This has truly been a blessing for all of us over the years,” says band leader Mike Connor. “We want to do a really spectacular grand finale show to connect with our old friends across South Dakota and thank them for their support."
The Acoustic Christmas concerts are a holiday tradition in South Dakota, and have raised over $1.2 million to support nonprofits and their causes over the past 19 years, including local arts councils, The Friends of Traditional Music, Children’s Care Hospital & School, and Habitat for Humanity.
The nine-piece band dishes up Christmas music in all kinds of forms: sacred, traditional, jazz, blues, world, and folk. This year, the group will celebrate their beginning by bringing back special guest star, world-class fiddler Kenny Putnam, who toured with Acoustic Christmas for many years. Past performers Jon and Jeremy Hegg will also share their talent and energy with the group this year. Regular members of the group are Mike & Judy Connor, Terry & Doreen Pospisil, Tom & Kathy Dains, Boyd Bristow, Barb Morean, and Fred Evans.
