Cloudless Sky
After a wait that could be best termed "a while," Boyd Bristow has made his first solo recording on Maxine/Audiophile. It is a celebratory collection of folk, R&B, country, gospel, and rock and roll. Featured are some of Boyd's best songs, along with excellent works from fellow South Dakotans Tom Peterson, Bruce Preheim and Dennis Westphal. Cloudless Sky was produced by master musician and recordist Chris Gage at MoonHouse Studio in Austin, Texas. Chris and Boyd go back "a long while." With the help of a cast of great players, and especially aided by the beautiful backing vocals of Christine Albert, they have created a deeply satisfying recording.

And Lately...
January 6, 2008. Dar and I saw Mike Melody and his lovely wife Sharon over the holidays in Omaha, Nebraska. Mike suggested it was time to update the website. While in Omaha, we got to see Brad Cordle, who was visiting from Las Vegas; he got some of the old Jailbreakers together for some local gigs. And that's why I like this particular time of the year; folks come back home and play music. Speaking of home, Dar and I moved to Spearfish, SD on June 27. Equally groundshaking for me was being adopted by Vince Two Eagles into his family. Work-wise, I spent the first six months here in Spearfish mostly as a recording engineer, mixing the 2006 Acoustic Christmas CD and the Entry Band CD. I also did a fair amount of playing with East of Westreville, Kenny Putnam, Hank Harris, Barry Carpenter, Mike Connor, Vince Two Eagles, Terry Pospisil and Dave Hoftstad as well as the acoustic band at the Spearfish UMC. And...the 2007 Acoustic Christmas tour was very successful this year. It featured Noah Hoehn on harmonica, percussion and vocals. He was outstanding and crowds all over South Dakota loved him. Two very important guests were along wtih us again this year, Jeremy and Jon Hegg. So now I will go to work on mixing and editing the concerts we recorded. I also continue to work on a project that is very dear to my heart, the Entry Band project. I will try to upate a little sooner this time, Mike. Happy New Year, everyone! P.S. Please visit the East of Westreville site when you have time:
